“Has God forgotten to be compassionate? Has he in anger withheld his mercy?” (Psalm 77:10 (9)) Do you ever feel like that–like God just left you in a mess and forgot you? “God himself has said, ‘I will never fail you or abandon you.’” (Hebrews 13:5) But when your heart is broken in disbelief of something you thought would never happen in your life, you may feel that God has forgotten to be compassionate. Or maybe you think he is angry with you so he has turned his back. He has promised to never fail or abandon us–never fail–never abandon.
“For everything there is a season, a right time for every intention under heaven–a time to be born and a time to die…a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.…” (Ecclesiastes 3:15) “So I will remind myself of Yah’s [the Lord’s] doings; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will meditate on your work and think about what you have done.” (Psalm 77:12 (11)-13 (12)) When you think you are forgotten, remind yourself of the works you have seen and remember–he promises to never fail or abandon you.
You are never forgotten, never left behind. God’s not asleep or too busy for you but your seasons must change. The seasons are what is growing you into a person who is strong enough to stand in the storm, anchored in Christ. He may stand as a silent observer for a time but you have not been abandoned.
“Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.”
