Are you aware that “faith without works is dead”? (James 2:26)
What kind of things keep us from showing our faith in ways that make a difference? Selfishness is a big one. We don’t like to admit it but most of us have a selfish streak that rears its ugly head saying, “I don’t have time or money, there’s nothing I can do right now.” We are more concerned with our own desires than the needs of our fellow man. We’re often quick to tell someone we will pray for them but how often do we take the time to pray with them? If you’ve ever had someone stop to pray with you, you know the comfort it brings just knowing someone cares enough to spend a few minutes bringing your needs before Father.
Perhaps you are not comfortable praying aloud but there are many ways to bring your faith to life. Share an extra coat with someone who does not have anything sufficiently warm. Make an encouraging phone call, text message, or visit someone who is lonely, especially at this time of the year when depression and loneliness are at their peak. Send a note that says you care. Help someone short reach the top shelf at the market. Pay for a stranger’s meal. If you feel you can’t afford it I assure you God will honor your kindness in ways you won’t expect. Let someone merge into traffic ahead of you. Give someone a real hug, even if they are dirty and smelly.
“You believe that God is one? Good! Even the demons believe–and they shudder.” (James 2:19) Kind acts don’t have to cost any money but they do require a few minutes of your precious time and a thoughtful heart. Become sensitive to God’s opportunities to love on purpose. One kind action today may be the turning point in someone’s life.
Yes. We should do it everyday.
I used to do kind acts. I will do it again!
You still do ❣️ Your kindness to me shines through brightly every day ❣️
