Do you feel the turmoil of our world? It seems as though everyone is pointing a finger at someone they consider a wicked leader. In fact, we are pretty good at laying all of the world’s issues on the back of that person or group. Nearly everyone feels there has been dishonesty, cheating, immorality, spying, and all sorts of evil activity running amok in government, but we can’t agree where the blame belongs. So we get angry with each other, solving nothing. Hatred and discord spread like wildfire.
You may feel as some did in King David’s time: “The bottom’s dropped out of the country; good people don’t have a chance.” (Psalm 11:3 MSG) But you would be wrong. Father has not abandoned us. “He’s in charge, as always, his eyes taking everything in, his eyelids unblinking, examining Adam’s unruly brood inside and out, not missing a thing.” (Psalm 11:4) We are all part of Adam’s unruly brood. We are all under examination at all times. No one escapes the eyes of Father.
Do you examine yourself? Many never seem to. They simply accept their feelings, attitudes, and actions as their personality and feel that others should accept them as well. A true examination of ourselves will always reveal something we need to change. Failure to look at your own life will not protect you from Father’s justice. “He tests the good and the bad alike; if anyone cheats, God’s outraged.” (Psalm 11:5) I don’t know about you but I’d rather lose something fairly than to have Father’s rage aimed at me. If you fail His test, He says: “You’re out, out in a hail of firestones, drinking from a canteen filled with hot desert wind.” (Psalm 11:6)
However, it’s important for us to remember that Father’s idea of justice and ours are probably not the same. We don’t see all that is hidden, but He does. We don’t know how to make things right, although we tend to think we do. Are you outraged at the evil you see in the world? Do the bad decisions of leaders make you angry? Do you long to see their kingdom fall?
Now, take a moment to look at yourself. Do you deserve to pay a heavy price? I do. But Father offered forgiveness for those who accept Jesus as their savior. It’s our only hope because: “God’s business is putting things right; he loves getting the lines straight.” (Psalm 11:7) He will have justice, in His time and in His way.
I pray for the President.
