More Than Mary

How honored was the Virgin Mary to be chosen to be the mother of Christ! Out of all the young women at the time, God chose to send the Spirit to Mary. How much more could a person be blessed than with the honor of being used to birth the Savior of the world!

Do you hear God speak to you, asking you to do things from time to time? His voice is usually soft and small, maybe a nudge or just a feeling that you know came from somewhere else. It’s easy to miss if you don’t intentionally listen for Him or seek Him. When you think He is speaking to you do you push it aside assuming you are not important enough for Him to talk to? Or do you listen more intently, shutting out the world? If you listen, do you let the Speaker guide you forward? Or do you let the words wander through your mind unattended?

Mary sure was a special girl but she was not the only one called to a special task. He is offering each one of us an assignment that no one else can do but it is our choice–God will not force you to do anything. If you choose to obey He promises to equip you with all you will need to complete the duty but in His gentle, loving way, He gives us free choice. Mary sure was blessed among women. But she was not as blessed as you are when you hear and obey the Word of God.

‘“How blessed is the mother that gave birth to you and nursed you from her breast.” But he said, “Far more blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:27-28) Not just more blessed, which would be amazing, but FAR more blessed than the Virgin Mary! Think about that with joyful anticipation of the task He wants to use you for and how great His love is for little ol’ you.
