Any tech-savvy person will tell you never to go online without virus protection. Doctors will tell you not to go into flu season without a flu shot and to take your vitamins. Our children cannot attend school until they have been vaccinated against a slew of diseases. Our world is full of dangers and human advice on how to avoid them. In the history of the world all of those protection techniques are fairly new but thousands of years ago, written in the Book, we were given the promise of a personal guardian to provide our protection.

“If I raise my eyes to the hills, from where will my help come? My help comes from ADONAI [the Lord], the maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2) “ADONAI is your guardian; at your right hand.” (Psalm 121:5) He is already there waiting beside you. But, just as sunscreen won’t protect you from skin cancer if you don’t rub it into your skin, and a wet suit won’t protect you if you don’t wear it; your Guardian must be poured out of the Book and into your heart.

Flu shots, immunizations, virus protectors–they are intended to be used before disaster strikes. Our Lord is able to rescue us at any point in our messy lives, but to enjoy all the benefits of a personal Guardian you need only to reach out your right hand and cling to His before disaster strikes. “ADONAI will guard you against all harm; he will guard your life. ADONAI will guard your coming and going from now on and forever.” (Psalm 121:7)

Don’t go into this day without proper protection. Open the Book and let the words guard your heart.
