Do you know your home so well you can walk through it in the dark without turning on a light? I get up early in the morning and travel the hallway between my office and coffee pot several times, keeping the lights off as much as possible. I don’t want to wake anyone or waste money on electricity for lights I don’t need. Most days I can navigate the journey without incident–I remember the obstacles on the path and I move around them. However, there are times that unexpected obstacles catch me off guard.
“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze on what lies in front of you.” (Proverbs 4:25) I have two dogs and a cat. Failure to fix my eyes on what’s in front of me has caused me to step into some really nasty messes, literally, stopping me in my tracks. At that very moment, my mission changes. I am no longer concerned with that cup of coffee. What I need and want most at that time are paper towels and cleaning solution. The coffee will wait.
“Level the path for your feet, let all your ways be properly prepared.” (Proverbs 4:26) If my habit, even in the most relaxed part of my life, was to shine a light on the path in front of me, at all times, I would avoid those nasty messes that take me off my mission.
Life is full of unexpected messy piles on the path. Sometimes Satan is trying to trip you and other times God is trying to remind you: “Fix your gaze on what lies in front of you,” or you may find yourself crying out for someone to rescue you from the pile of yuck you stepped into. Let your little light shine in front of you today.
Praying God would show what I miss.
Yes, I have two dogs. Sometimes they go to bathroom inside. God directs my path. Watch for bad take the good!
My dog puked two times.
