A New Day

If you are reading this you have successfully made the transition from 2019 to 2020. It’s a new decade, a new year, a new day. Somehow it has the power to give us new hope for the future. Why? It’s just another day in time.

I have never been one of those many people who felt like God had given me a word for the year–until this year. Perhaps it’s the number 2020. It reminds me and probably many others of 20/20 vision. The word that came to me is “clarity.” I believe this year will reveal much for those who will remove their blinders and open their ears. I expect to have many “aha” moments,  like little treasures scattered along the path.

The Bible is full of warnings for those of us who choose not to look beyond our own selfish desires or listen to things that are contrary to the direction we want to go. Are you walking the path determined by Father or the path that you chose? Think about the past year. Where did God fit in? Was he in the game, on your team, or was he on the sidelines waiting for a break in the action to pass you a message? Maybe he was the water-boy who refreshed you during time-outs.

“If you have ears, then hear!” (Matthew 11:15) “Whoever has ears, let him hear!” (Matthew 13:43) “Whoever has ears to hear with, let him hear!” (Mark 4:9)  Those are just a few of the commands to pay attention. The words are not in secret code, they are very clear and concise.

Do you long to see the blessings Father wants to share with you? “When you call to me and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you seek me, you will find me, provided you seek me wholeheartedly.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13) Imagine the things you will witness when Father says to you: “How blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear! I tell you that many a prophet and many a tzaddik [spiritual leader] longed to see the things you are seeing, and to hear the things you are hearing but did not hear them.” (Matthew 13:16)

Welcome 2020. May we have the clarity of 20/20 vision this year.

Happy New Year!
