Does fear of failure keep you from saying yes when you are offered an opportunity? Do you examine yourself looking for your weak areas and convince yourself that you will let someone down and look foolish for trying? I am guilty of this reaction many times. However, I have noticed that God does not just accept my negative opinion of my own abilities and withdraw the offer if it’s something that He wants me to do.

He sends me reminders in his Word such as; “I will never fail you or abandon you,” (Hebrews 13:5) and: “ADONAI [the Lord] is my helper; I will not be afraid.” (Hebrews 13:6) Father often calls us outside our comfort zone, for many reasons. Perhaps it is to shape us into what He desires us to look like or to show others what is possible when we listen and follow where He leads. He also desires for us to know that when we take a step in faith He will be there to catch us if we fall.

But, how do we determine what opportunities are from God and which are sent in an effort of the enemy to distract us? Look for Father’s peace in your heart. You may be looking at scary or chaotic circumstances but if the Lord is calling you and you look past the “I can’t” door and through the open window, you will find shalom or total peace. “The God of shalom brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Yeshua [Jesus], by the blood of an eternal covenant. May God equip you with every good thing you need to do his will, and may he do in us whatever pleases him, through Yeshua the Messiah.” (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Abandon fear on the other side of the door and escape through the open window where the Light is shining. “To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Hebrews 13:21)
