Created In Love

My sister has a fairly new Cricut machine and a young grandson–her first. She has sent me many pictures of her creative works, most of which were sent off to the little fellow she adores. He lives too far away for her to hold and squeeze as often as she’d like but he is always on her mind. As she joyfully creates everything from clothes to window clings she is hoping that little Calvin will grow to know how much she loves him, even though they are apart. My sister is a giver; that’s how she shows her love. I watch her excitement in creating and I think of Father, the greatest creator that has ever or will ever exist.

I wonder if He called the angels over to see each of us as we were being formed. Perhaps He watched them for expressions of awe and wonder as they witnessed what he was able to do; something special with each of us. “For you fashioned my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I thank you because I am awesomely made, wonderfully; your works are wondrous–I know this very well.” Psalm 139:13-14

I received a package from my sister. It included a t-shirt with Psalm 46:10 on it and a wall plaque, all in purple naturally, our favorite color. The plaque says: “Wash your hands &  say your prayers because Jesus and germs are everywhere,” a very appropriate reminder for all of us right now. Before I opened the package I could feel the love she put into it. I knew there was a handmade gift inside, a piece of her heart meant only for me.

If another human is able to share that kind of love through handmade gifts what do you think Father is capable of? Every gift from Him is handmade especially for you. You were on his mind while He was creating and a piece of His heart was reserved with your name on it. He waits for you to discover each gift with the hope that you will feel His love and know that you are on His mind even if you can’t see Him. Love breaks through all barriers. Be still–do you feel Him? Be quiet–do you hear Him? We were created in love, to love, and to be loved.

Love–the four-letter word that is the answer to every question.
