Finding Wisdom

“Happy the person who finds wisdom, the person who acquires understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13) Have you found wisdom through education? Do you proudly hold a degree that proves it? What has been your most studied subject? “Don’t be conceited about your own wisdom.” (Proverbs 3:7) Perhaps you didn’t even graduate high school. Does that make others wiser than you? True wisdom cannot be bought through formal education. It is freely available to all–equally.

“For ADONAI [the Lord] gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6) But God’s wisdom and understanding don’t reside in your brain, they don’t even start there. “For wisdom will enter your heart,” and afterward, “knowledge will be enjoyable for you, discretion will watch over you, and discernment will guard you.” (Proverbs 2:10-11)

Life is a learning experience and someone has written a book about every conceivable topic, to date. Many become obsolete as more wisdom is revealed–but the Bible is as true today as it was from the start. It is the one textbook you should never be without. It shows you that wisdom is not something we are naturally born with. We are told to chase after her, seek her with our whole heart. Why? “Her profits exceed that of silver, gaining her is better than gold, she is more precious than pearls–nothing you want can compare to her. Long life is in her right hand, riches and honor in her left. Her ways are pleasant and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who grasp her; whoever holds fast to her will be made happy.” (Proverbs 3:14-18)

Does your wisdom do all of that for you? Do you want these things? Seek, ask, and find true peace and happiness–there is only one source–ADONAI, our Lord and Savior.
