How are you reacting to the current scare of the world? Are you relaxing and putting everything in the trustworthy hands of Father? Perhaps you are one of the panic buyers. If so, I need one of you to explain to me why so much toilet paper. Who would have ever predicted a shortage in our country of toilet paper? But the Bible tells us: “There is nothing new under the sun. Is there something of which it is said, ‘See this is new?’ It existed already in the ages before us.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10) Panic is not the response Father wants from those of us who put our hope of salvation in him. How can we trust him to deliver us to heaven if we can’t trust him to protect us from disease?
Do you remember the Passover before the exodus from Egypt? It was a night of sheer terror for those who were not sheltered in place with the blood of the lamb on their doorposts. But those who followed his instructions were spared.
Jesus said to the people, “Be careful to guard against all forms of greed….There was a man whose land was productive. He debated with himself, ‘What should I do? I haven’t enough room for all of my crops.’ Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and I’ll store all my wheat and other goods there. Then I’ll say to myself, ‘You’re a lucky man! You have a big supply of goods built up that will last many years. Start taking it easy! Eat! Drink! Enjoy yourself!’” But God said to him: “You fool! This very night you will die!” (Luke 12:16-20)
If you trust in Father and come seeking him every day, he will give you your daily needs–including toilet paper. “Do not store up for yourself wealth here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and burglars break in and steal. Instead, store up for yourselves wealth in heaven…for where your wealth is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
There may chaos in the world but Father is still in control. He’s not surprised or caught off guard. He has prepared and made a way. Will you come to him daily or only after you have run out of toilet paper?
I’ll come to Him all day long!!!
