So Very Good

Have you ever had a week of new and exciting experiences? Perhaps it was a vacation to a place you had never been to, learning a new job, or even the first week with a new baby. I recall an Alaskan cruise in 2000.

It was an amazing time exploring “God’s country.” Each day was special in and of itself. We had a couple of days sailing the ocean while we explored our floating five-star hotel. We went on whale and otter watching tours, observing their habits closeup. We traveled by cable car up the mountain, and after walking the top, back down. We visited a native village where we were treated to a traditional dance and watched a totem pole being carved. We were given a personal tour of Juneau, where we stopped by the courthouse for our paperwork before arriving at the bed and breakfast where we would stand on the deck looking out at Mendenhall Glacier on the other side of Auck Lake. It was there that we would make a lifetime commitment to each other. We witnessed God’s love as the rain stopped just before our outdoor wedding and began again after we returned to the ship. The helicopter tour and walking on the top of a glacier were experiences most people only dream about. Each day was good, full of joy and awe. But when looking over the entire week it was better than good –it was so, so good.

That’s what happened with God as He created our world. Looking over each day He was satisfied with what He had created–it was good. But after the sixth day, the day He created mankind, He “looked over everything he had made; it was so good, so very good!” (Genesis 1:31 MSG)

We experience life one day at a time. God sees our daily walk and finds something good each day but He also sees the finished story. Father knows the path your story will follow. He asks us to have faith to believe in His plan, to trust Him on the journey. He has seen the future and “it is so good, so very good!” Let down your guard when you fellowship with God, Jesus, and/or the Spirit.

Relax and remember: your story on earth already has an ending and it is so good, so very good! Don’t let one bad day, or even a mountain of them, convince you that you fell through the crack. It is finished! It is so very good!
