Who Said That?

How do we know who to listen to or who to believe? It seems that every day brings new information that contradicts what we were told just a few days before. The CDC, the World Health Organization, the President, governors, mayors, and medical professionals from everywhere seem to be grasping at straws to find the answer to preserving life. Many people seem to have forgotten that we have an instruction manual that has not changed and tells us clearly how to survive this world.

Some people don’t believe the Bible and some have never opened it. But many who have read it and have believed seem to still be swayed by popular human opinion. I have found that popular opinion and God’s direction almost never cross paths.

Proverb 4 tells us in fairly simple terms where to look for answers. The Message says it this way: “Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart!” Can you distinguish the voices in your head? Do you think that all of your thoughts are your own? Satan speaks in many disguised voices through his demon spirits of greed, envy, pain, hate, fear, misunderstanding, loneliness, and so many others. Father speaks in the same small voice He started with.

If you aren’t listening to Father or you are unfocused, you will probably hear only the loudest and most annoying voices. They are loaded with fear and anxiety, demanding you to also cover yourself in the same clothing. If you have not kept Father’s Word in your heart, you are unprotected from the perils of this world.

The Bible is a large book and it may intimidate some folks, but it brings forth truth, changes hearts, and repurposes lives. Father tells us again and again not to fear anything this world throws at us. He has our backs if we’ll take shelter in His arms. Is it too simple, too good to be true? Have you heard Father’s message? Have you hidden it in your heart? If you have you also have the ability to remain calm, cool, and collected, knowing you are loved by the Ultimate Authority.

It’s worth repeating and comes with a promise: “Dear friend,  listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health.” (Proverb 4:20-22)
