God Is Greater

What is the greatest desire of your heart right now? Does it have anything to do with Father? I know that His greatest desire is that His children acknowledge Him not only in word but in action. 1 John chapter 3 stresses that God’s people will follow Him and be righteous people without sin. “No one who remains united with him continues sinning; everyone who does continue sinning neither has seen him nor known him.” (1 John 3:6) “No one who has God as their Father keeps on sinning, because the seed planted by God remains in him. That is, he cannot continue sinning, because he has God as his Father.” (1 John 3:9)

I don’t know your reaction to those passages but my first thought goes to Paul’s letter to the Romans. “There is no one righteous, not even one!” (Romans 3:10) If we are honest with ourselves we know that we cannot go one day without sinning, from God’s perspective. The Bible tells us how we ought to live but Father knew all along we wouldn’t be able to without supernatural help. Our human hearts do not have what it takes to beat through eternity. But God isn’t restricted to doing things in a ‘sensible’ manner.

“Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered over.” (Romans 3:7)  How do we get to the point of purification? By Love. Love is both a noun and a verb. “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) “Here is how God showed his love among us: God sent his only son into the world, so that through him we might have life.” (1 John 4:9) When we truly accept Jesus as our Savior, he cleanses us but we still continue to sin; we can’t help it. “If our hearts know something against us, God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts know nothing against us, we have confidence in approaching God; then, whatever we ask for, we receive from him; because we are obeying his commands and doing the things that please him.” (1 John 3:20-22)

If your heart reminds you of a hidden sin, it’s time to sit at Jesus’ feet and talk about it. He will cover it with His blood and the stain will disappear. Father will see you as righteous because Yeshua’s blood is an instant stain remover to those who are called God’s children. What does your heart know today?
