Going Viral

The most time-consuming issue in the news right now is the Coronavirus. Older people are being advised not to leave home if they don’t have to and young people who are sick should not visit their parents or grandparents. The CDC doesn’t want anyone shaking hands or hugging. Many places are having their employees work from home. I hear there will be basketball games with no audiences. In the midst of the crisis, you always find people trying to take advantage. EBAY halted the sale of hand sanitizer when a two-dollar bottle was listed for forty-dollars. Has the virus changed how you react to others right now?

I’m sure Satan is smiling at the way people are pulling away from one another. There is a very real danger but we have a very real Protector. In Father’s own words: “If you will listen intently to the voice of ADONAI your God, do what he considers right, pay attention to his mitzvot (commands) and observe his laws, I will not afflict you with any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians; because I am ADONAI your healer.” (Exodus 15:26)

Father has given you a spiritual gift of some sort that he does not want to be wasted because we are scared. Romans 12 tells of the various gifts; prophecy, serving, teaching, counseling, comforting, giving, leading and acts of mercy. “Don’t let love be a mere outward show. Recoil from what is evil, and cling to what is good.” (Romans 12:9)

Of course, we need to use common sense and practice good handwashing but we do not need to fear. Father has got your back. “Be sensitive to each other’s needs–don’t think yourself better than others.” (Romans 12:16)

Will hand-shaking ever come back? I don’t know. But I do know if you will follow Father’s instructions, he will protect you. If you still get the Coronavirus don’t forget who your Healer is. Walk in faith, not in fear.
