Only One

“There is no God besides me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me. Look at me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God; there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:21-22) Have you given Father the seat of honor in your heart? It requires you to get up off it first. While Father holds all power and has the right to remove you He chooses to be a gentleman and wait for you to offer. He has no desire to force Himself on you. He waits to be chosen.

“Raise your eyes toward the skies, look at the earth below. The skies will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like clothing. Those living on it will die like flies; but my salvation will be forever, and my justice will never end.” (Isaiah 51:6) Throughout the Book, we are continually warned that everything we can see or hold will disappear, including us–we are nothing more than a mist in time. But do we live as though we believe that’s true? Many times that seems to be the furthest thing from our minds as we occupy ourselves with daily living. We tend to get really comfortable inside our skin and temporary world.

The people of the United States like to declare that we have the right to pursue happiness. I think that depends on your definition of happiness.  Do you seek earthly happiness; the kind that only money can buy? Do you think you’ll find it when you marry or have children? The temporary joys of human life will never fill the longing for eternal, passionate love. “I am God and there is none like me. At the beginning I announce the end, proclaim in advance things not yet done; and I say that my plan will hold, I will do everything I please to do.” (Isaiah 46:9-10) Have you read the Plan? It is written in the book called the Bible–Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. It tells of a savior who steps down from heaven to become a living sacrifice for us, our Vindicator who will stand with us in the end and declare us righteous through His own blood–if we have accepted Him.

“May this be put on record for a future generation; may a people yet to be created praise ADONAI.” (Psalm 102:19 (18)) And may we be the ones to set the example for the future generations. “Glory in his holy name; let those seeking ADONAI have joyful hearts.” (Psalm 105:3)
