The Invitation

Are you confident in what you believe? How did you learn about salvation? Do you share that journey with others or walk silently in your faith? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.” (Romans 10:8) What is that word? “The word about trust, which we proclaim, namely, that if you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that Yeshua [Jesus] is Lord and trust in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be delivered.” (Romans 10:9) Has this truth penetrated your heart and taken root?

How did you learn the truth? Occasionally God will supernaturally reveal Himself to someone but He usually sends forth messengers such as you and I. “For with the heart one goes on trusting and thus continues toward righteousness, while with the mouth one keeps on making public acknowledgment and thus continues toward deliverance.” (Romans 10:10) Is it uncomfortable for you to discuss God’s ways with unbelievers? Are you concerned with how they will react toward you? Are you afraid that you’ll become one of those pushy Christians people avoid? That happened to me and it could not make me happier. I regularly invite new friends on my social media to check out my blog. It matters not to me if they are Christian because God can and will use whoever He wants and I don’t want to miss another chance to be a witness. The other person does not have to accept the invitation, it is a choice. I awoke one morning to find a message left just an hour before I got up. The man was not happy that I would invite him to a “God meeting” as though I was suggesting he may need it. He blocked and deleted me. Remember what I told you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too.” (John 15:20) That confirmed for me that I am doing the right thing and I plan to continue to offer.

Are you anxious to see hardened hearts turn to God for healing? “How can they call on someone if they haven’t trusted in him? And how can they trust in someone if they haven’t heard about him? And how can they hear about someone if no one is proclaiming him? And how can people proclaim him unless God sends them?” (Romans 10:14-15) Do you feel God sending you to anyone? Has He put a message in your mouth?

Are you afraid you won’t have the words? Then learn Scripture and use God’s own words: “ADONAI [the Lord] is the same for everyone, rich toward everyone who calls on him, since everyone who calls on the name of ADONAI will be delivered.” (Romans 10:12-13) Introduce someone to Jesus. He’s right there beside you–don’t be rude to him. “How beautiful are the feet of those announcing good news about good things!” (Romans 10:15) Will you speak out today?
